Creativity

Being creative is not just for those who can paint or design. Being creative is simply the ability to seek an answer.

I'm a person that if you tell me to create something, if you ask me to design something from nothing, my brain freaks out. As I like to describe, if you give me a box, I'm going to find every single way or opportunity to work outside of that box.

That's how my brain works creatively. It's fun.

I can remember growing up on a farm, and I'd be met with these challenges. I would create these contraptions, these levers to accomplish a task because that's what I had to do.

My parents tell the story of when I was young and I took apart the lawnmower because I wanted to find out how it worked. I was not good at putting it back together, but you give me a detailed list, like an Ikea project. Man, I'll nail that. There might be a few leftover parts, but I will nail that.

I've learned and I appreciate so much that creative people aren't just those that can design or create, or make something from nothing. Creative people are the ones who see it and say, "There's a better option. This won't quite fit, but if we tweak it here, or there, or do that..."

That is creativity.

This week, I interviewed Natalie Kovarik where we discussed more about creativity in the agriculture industry. Watch it here.
