Your Fear is Showing When You Fence Others Out

Your fear is showing when you fence others out.

I heard this quote many years ago and this story that John Maxwell shared. As it's described in the story and the book I read, it talks about this farmer, and this farmer goes to a hardware store and he said, "Hey, I want fencing supplies." The owner of the hardware store says, "Hey, are you going to be fencing in or fencing out?"

Meaning, if you're fencing in, you're growing. If you’re fencing out, it’s because you're wanting to just hunker down and keep what you have safe. The farmer responds, "I'm fencing in."

Somebody observed this and asked, "Well, how did you decide?" The farmer explains it that if someone is fencing in, they're growing, they're looking for expansion, they're getting better. Someone that's fencing out is fearful. They're afraid of what they have. They're hunkered down and protecting what they have.

I encourage you to rather fence in as opposed to fence out. Open up those gates, allow others to come in.

When you're afraid of what you might lose, everything you have is liable to be lost.

On November 14 & 15, I’m hosting a free 2-day virtual event titled Removing Fears & Insecurities That Are Holding You Back…So You Can Reach Any Vision & Goal You Set with Bold Confidence! When you overcome your fears and insecurities, and build stronger relationships, you generate significant influence… and the effects of that my friend, are monumental. I’m going to show you how to embrace new and life-changing habits that will enhance your journey and develop an all round healthier, happier, more successful version of YOU.

Throughout this two-day event I am going to show you how to remove your armor and awaken the leader within, so you can make influential and life changing impact.

We’ll look at breaking through toxic beliefs and examining how you show up in the world.

We’ll also uncover the damaging and limiting effects that come from overexerting ourselves, having a full schedule, thriving for unrealistic levels of productivity… and how all this creates intensity and friction that prevents us from moving forward.

AND you’ll be surrounded by others just like you. With the help of these connections we will generate the skills that enable us to inspire, move and motivate others.
