Empower Others

If you want to accomplish more, empower others.

Do you want to grow beyond your greatest abilities? Empower others.

To empower is to give power to someone else. If you hoard power, it will destroy you. It’s  going to make you jealous, it's going to make you angry, it's going to make you all the things.

But to empower someone means that you have the power and give it to them. And what's amazing is when you give people power, you get more back. It becomes this cycle.

In the movie, 'Remember the Titans,’ there's a scene where Ryan Gosling's character is playing defensive back and he's getting toasted by this guy. Well, this is a movie that was built upon segregation. It was in the '60s and you had black players and white players. He was getting toasted by this more athletic player who happened to be black. The coach is like, "He's getting toasted. He's getting burnt. He's getting destroyed." The coach says to him, "Hey, I'm not going to give away your position 'cause you're a white guy." So Ryan Gosling’s character turns to his friend Petey who happens to be black. He said, "Petey, you can run with him. I can't."

He empowers him.

Why is this so pivotal? It's not a graceful thing. That's the premise of the movie to point out to you guys.

He developed trust.

He developed teamwork.

He developed cohesiveness when he recognized someone was better than him at something and gave that power to them instead.

When you empower people, you develop trust. When you empower people, you get rid of all the differences. When you empower people, you give more power back to yourself.

If you want to accomplish more, empower others.

Do you want to grow beyond your greatest abilities? Empower others.

When you empower people, you give more power back to yourself.
