Guide with Values Rather Than Laws

Guide with values rather than laws.

I talked to a couple of my friends this morning. We got into this conversation about laws and values and guardrails. One of the things that we agreed upon at the end is when you put laws and rules on people, they rebel, they push against it.

But when you guide with values saying, hey, this is what we do around here, people either fit in or they fit out. If they find somewhere else to fit, that's fine. You're not making that decision.

You might say, these are the values that are important to us now. We'll evolve over time. Our diversity will grow because we hold those values and not absolutes to what people have to act like or what they have to believe.

If we hold the same values and we have the same value set, we're going to have a diverse crowd around us and we're also going to guide people through a path of inclusion rather than exception. We're going to invite people to fit in rather than forcing people to fit out.

We're going to invite people to fit in rather than forcing people to fit out.
