Image or Helping Someone Else Grow

Are you more concerned about your image or helping someone else grow?

As I've realized, you can't focus on both. If you're afraid of what people are thinking about you, then you're going to have a hard time delegating. You're going to have a hard time knowing that someone else may fall short. But it's in that process that they're able to learn. The only time you ever really learn something is when you fall short or you fail.

Now, how do you address that? How do you deal with it? There have been discussions in customer service. You really don't know how good customer service is until there's an issue. And that's when customer service proves itself.

To me as a leader, it's the exact same thing. If you're more worried about your image than you are about helping others, you're going to fall short in both.
