The Dream is Free, But the Journey Isn't

The dream is free, but the journey isn't.

We can dream all day long, but are we willing to pay the price to make it reality?

I thought of four individuals, four historical individuals that really paid the sacrifice.

  1. Martin Luther King paid with his life. He had a dream. "I have a dream."

  2. JFK had a dream, a vision of a man being on the moon. He never saw that. He paid for his plans with his life.

  3. Abraham Lincoln had a dream, a dream that men would be equal and marginalized people are represented, and he dealt with it differently. I mean, he had to stand apart, and he tried to do as much as he could in his time, and he paid with his life.

  4. And then also, I think about Jesus. I'm a person of Christian faith. You don't have to be. It's been documented that he paid for his beliefs with his life.

They each had a dream. They had a dream that everyone else's life would be different. That was their dream, and their journey to see that dream come to life was not free.

I share that with you guys today as an encouragement. If you have a dream, you're going to have to pay the price.

Now, those four paid the price, ultimately, with their life. Maybe your dream isn't that dramatic, but that's okay.

If you're willing to give up your life for a dream, generations later, your impact will still be making a difference.
