The importance and the art of connection

One of the things that I’ve realized is that connections are best grounded by values.
— Tyler Dickerhoof

We only have a certain amount of time; this is the one resource we can never get back. You have to be really intentional about who you are connecting with, as this is a reflection of yourself. Connections can bring about amazing collaborations and great opportunities for both parties.

There is an art to connecting though, so make sure to ask yourself these questions:

1.       Does it make sense in their value system?

2.       Are they on the same type of mission where they can help each other?

3.       Are they on the same level of influence?

Connections and relationships are everything, but you really have to make sure that you’re funneling the right people with the right people.

Falling in love with the process

You will never get results if you focus on the results. You have to have a system, knowing who you are, and then the process, your daily habits… Which you have to love.
— David Nurse

It is so imperative that you fall in love with the process. It will help you refocus your energy, make you pay attention, and make you appreciate the results.

When you have an obstacle in your direction, after you weigh the challenges of overcoming the goal, you will fantasize about the results. You imagine what’s it going to feel like once you defeat the hardship and how the moment is going to look down to the smallest detail.

Therefore, focusing and redirecting your energy to focus on the process is necessary because the better you become in the process, the more you will enjoy the journey and the results.

Searching for your eminence

You are going to continue to have pivots in your life. You will start on a path you think you are destined for, but then something happens and you’ll need to shift gears.

Everything is a preparation for an opportunity to come. We don’t know what that gift box is going to look like, but it normally ends up being way better than we can even imagine.
— David Nurse

You have been given a gift, and as the years go by you are continually sharpening that gift. You will become obsessed with this gift and as you get better and better, it may lead you somewhere else. This is the journey of searching for your eminence.

You might not know exactly what the purpose is right off the bat, but you can always be pursuing it.
— David Nurse

Confidence, self-awareness, and insecurities

Your identity is not based on any results, it’s not based on what the world says, but it’s fully understanding who you are and what the gifts are that you have been given.

Being brave is being vulnerable. Being authentically, genuinely yourself is at the core of where confidence comes from.
— David Nurse

Even though you may have this level of confidence, insecurities still creep in. You can however get over your insecurities by accepting the past for what it is. You can’t change it, you can’t go back, you can’t live in the past – just accept it and grow from it.

Embrace impostor syndrome, accept the past, learn from the insecurities and understand that we’re human, it’s okay. Give yourself some grace. There’s going to be times where you are insecure in situations but you’re going to look back at these times and learn from these times.
— David Nurse

The art of doing

We live in a world today where we are immersed in the art of knowledge. We’re listening to podcasts and reading books, acquiring all this knowledge, yet we don’t do anything with it. We’ve completely lost the art of doing.

Regrets will eat away at you, and the only way to not have regret is to go do. That’s the only way you learn. Acquire all the knowledge, but use it, teach someone, serve someone.
